شعر کودکانه‌ی «این خانه‌ای است که جک ساخت» را بخوانید.
قرار دادن یک عبارت یا بند درون عبارت یا بند دیگر را «درونه‌گذاری» می‌نامند.
از طریق فرایندهای بازگشتی و درونه‌گذاری است که می‌توانیم تعدادی متناهی شکل (واژه و عبارت) برداریم و تعداد نامتناهی عبارت بسازیم.
علاوه بر این، درونه‌گذاری به ما امکان می‌دهد ساختاری بی‌نهایت طولانی بسازیم، دست‌کم در نظر.
