همان‌طور که احتمالاً متوجه شده‌اید، Ruby برخلاف برخی زبان‌های دیگر «عملگر افزایشی» (i++) ندارد. به‌جای آن می‌توان از ساختارهایی مثل i += 1 (که معادل i = i + 1 است) استفاده کرد.
